I think it's time for an update. I know we haven't been around for quite some time. After a long period of uncertainty, now we moved to Waalre (Aalst), a village close to the Belgium border. During the last four months, we had plans to move either to Canada, or to the UK, or to New Zealand. It started as a depressing period related to the global economic depression, but after a while things got much better. Finally, we are still in the Netherlands.

Anyway, let's talk a little bit about Waalre. This is a small and wealthy village close to the city of Eindhoven. Also, it is only 14 km away from the Belgium border. It has a population of approximately 15~16,000 people. The thing I love the most about this village is the regulations to sustain a diversity of tree and bird types. This is one of the reasons why this lovely "dorp" is also known as "de groenfontein" - the green fountain. Well, even the municipality is in a small forest with a lake. Love it, love it, love it!
Most residents of Waalre are quite rich and they have huuuge houses, farms, horses...and alpacas. I was fascinated to see a lady walking her two alpacas on the pavement! Now I am getting used to stuff like a group of children on their horses, crossing a street, etc. Well, lucky bastards... (:
Another reason we could not pay any attention to our blog was the lack of internet. Thanks to KPN, our internet connection was made in 49 days! I'll write more about KPN, the Netherlands and most importantly, about Dutch people later. I have a lot to say. (;
Below are some photos from Waalre and Dommelen. I am not a good photographer and also some photos were taken with a mobile phone. Sorry for the quality. Enjoy!
